6 July 2008: Stage Two: Team Time Trial
Rain, hills, high winds, three cat 3 climbs and a bunch of others that apparently don't qualify to be named, but certainly are sufficient to kill your quads. And those are just the things that the peleton has to deal with.
Add to those a late start, a 12 k/3-stop-and-ask-directions detour,
closed grocery stores, cider at km 140, a 3 hour train connection, muddy
and twisted cleats, a shower in a train station sink, and the current
need to find a place to pitch a tent in the rain, and you have the
makings of an epic day. Thank god Tom is here!
178 k, Average Speed 23.5 km/hr. No major problems yet, but the
mountains are lurking.
